Introduction

 Lore

Previously in the Han Dynasty, the Yuezhi country offered a golden male lion to the great Han Dynasty. The messenger declared that if anyone could tame the lion and make it behave, they shall continue to grant the Han Dynasty monetary benefits. Otherwise, he would cut off their diplomatic relations. After the messenger took his leave, the emperor picked three people to tame the lion, but to no success.

Later on, the golden male lion let loose of itself and was ferocious, which resulted to it being beaten to death by the servants. The servants dressed up as the golden lion in an attempt to escape from the punishment, and they tried to mimic the dance of a typical lion. Their act of disguising as the lion deceived the envoy of the Yuezhi country , as well as the emperor. Later, the matter became known to others outside the Palace, and the people believe that the lion symbolises auspiciousness. Following so, people imitated the dance of a lion, and that is how lion dance came to exist today.
