Methods and techniques

The lion dance is usually performed by two dancers, with one standing at the front and the other at the back

One of whom manipulates the head while the other forms the rear end of the lion

The performer at the front needs to hold the lion's head up high with two hands, allowing him to see the outer surroundings through the opening of the lion's eyes and mouth

The performer at the back needs to put on the costume and hold on to the belt around the waist of the front person with both hands

When putting up a performance, the performers should cooperate well with each other, so their movements look neat

1.The lion awakens

Musical rhythm: The intensity and speed gradually increases

The eyes of the lion open slightly, till they are fully opened

Movements: Stretching, yawning, opening its mouth and looking around
2. The lion turns angry

Musical rhythm: Strong, hurried and fast drum beats

As it gets angry, it stares fiercely and roars

Movements: Vibrating, horse stance, lunge and stand
3. The lion is sad

The lion grieves when it encounter difficulties

Movements: Moving from side to side, stepping, making a turn
